Message from the President

In the Middle Ages, a herald was the officer charged with proclaiming and announcing peace as well as war, issuing challenges for battle, and bearing messages from the leaders of the city.  He (they were almost always male) was to proclaim, to be a forerunner, and a precursor.  He was invested with a sacred and inviolable character. In addition he was often given the care of genealogies.

I believe that we can be proud to take up that role in today’s society.  As members of the Saints John and Paul Catholic school community we too are called to be messengers of good news.  The faculty and staff are engaged in challenging students to excel academically.  We partner with parents in helping the students that are entrusted to us come to develop their full potential in the sciences, the arts, literature, and math.  More importantly we strive to help them continue their faith development as children of a good and providential God.

I believe that one of my roles as President of Saints John and Paul Catholic School is to take care of the genealogy – the legacy and rich tradition that is ours.  To care for a legacy is not to just sit and admire the past but to insure the future of the legacy by planning for tomorrow.  I welcome the challenge that planning for the future entails.  That future will only be realized by a committed community working from the same vision.  I believe the Board of Directors has crafted that vision in the Strategic Plan for the School.  As we move the Plan from paper and the printed word to reality it will allow us to provide Catholic education for the students of Ashtabula County for years to come.
